“Forget conventionalisms; forget what the world thinks of you stepping out of your place; think your best thoughts, speak your best words, work your best works, looking to your own conscience for approval.”

Nance Reynolds, PhD is a psychotherapist in private practice in Eugene, Oregon.

Nance has a keen interest in the human experience, philosophy, poetry, and art which is rooted in childhood experiences and continues through her work, writing, and living.

Our past history and experiences inform our present moments and relationships. Often the complex layers of mind sets, behaviors, expectations and emotions live within and continue to direct our lives in an unconscious way.

My passion has developed for depth therapy through witnessing the immense possibilities for significant change, connection with parts of self that had been dormant and unacknowledged, and an increased capacity for joy. The complexity of the human experience finds a place to journey within a safe therapeutic relationship and is met in the here-and-now moments of relationship and discovery.

The joy, freedom, and possibility I have experienced through my integration of education and training in the Existential-Humanistic perspective provides a lens through which therapy becomes more authentic, inclusive, and meaningful. Currently I have the opportunity to teach and carry this work forward through the Existential Humanistic Institute.

Nance enjoys yoga, dance, hiking, reading, and writing poetry, tending a continually overgrown garden reminding me of the wild, and following the Philadelphia 76ers.

mission statement

I am an existential-humanistic therapist, my past and continual learning inform my practice and my life. As a humanistic therapist my work focuses on the unique potential and innate capacity for wellness and balance of each person.

Experiencing the authentic self is an integral aspect of the therapeutic relationship in humanistic psychology. The moment by moment felt sense of the self beyond a cognitive interpretation is one pathway toward deeper understanding and freedom. My intention is to provide this opportunity through a trusting, consistent, and non-judgmental relationship.

I have a life-long commitment to academic training, community service, and spiritual development. I welcome people of all ethnic backgrounds and gender identities.
